“DAY 6: Reading”

Hello once again, readers. Still in the middle of my catch-up sprint, so here is my response to the Day 6 prompt. (I’ve forgotten to mention in the past, but you can also click that link to find the many brilliant bloggers who have shared their posts for the Challenge. There’s some great stories to be found!)

Click here to go back to Day 1. (Man, that post is going to have a lot of ping-backs…)

As always, comments are gratefully accepted.

Reading…

She reads.

She reads because books are better than life. In books roam princes and soul mates, magic and wonder. Good triumphs over evil, the bad guys have potential to change, and everything happens for a reason.

In books, girls don’t bleed from the paper-cuts that come when they hold these portals close and wish for a different world.

She reads and she hopes for the words to consume her and take her away.

She reads.

  1. An excellent piece for the ‘Reading’ prompt! I particular love this line: “In books, girls don’t bleed from the paper-cuts.”
